How does Carvins active system compare to the industry standard EMG's?

If you like active electronics, the Carvin system is about like any other, and it works well. I personally am old-fashioned (probably because I'm not as young as I used to be), I ordered my DC200T with passive electronics, I like it better that way.

I don't have any regular active guitars, but I do have two Carvin active 5-string basses. The EQ works great, I think. It sculpts the tone near anywhere I want it. It doesn't introduce a lot of noise into the mix.

I've never owned any of EMG's stuff.

I agree with Herb, I to am old school and prefer passive electronics to actives. So much so that I'm considering removing the active preamp from my Carvin AE-185 and just running it passively.

Me too, I prefer passive. I have a DC135T with the active/passive set-up. 2 coil spliters, and a phase . I think the active sounds a bit nasaly. However it could be due to the solid Koa body and neck. I turned up the active amp for more bite, and use it for some leads.. Just my thoughts.
I love the sound of the active AE185 !!! "Monkey"
