This is an awesome combination! I am setting it up to tap either coil at any time in any combination and it works fantastically! I'd pair these 2 pickups again in a heartbeat! Boggs

Here's the prototype body made from cheap pine (in place of the Cuban mahogany I will be using) and European hardwood plywood (in place of the padauk top and back) with the electronics in place...

...and the neck specially made for me by Carvin...

...and as for how it sounds (albeit in a very compressed format) in its prototype form...

The next post will show pretty much what the revised body shape will be like as viewed in the actual but unfinished wood I will be using for the top and back... Boggs

Now, sound clips comparing my prototype to a Carvin SC90 as recorded by a friend of mine...

The first will be the SC90 and the follow-up will be mine playing the same thing through the same patch. I don't know what pickups were selected or where volume pots were set or anything like that. I just thought it was cool of him to spend an evening doing this for me. The proto has now been disassembled to get parts and measurements for the real build... It was really hard taking her apart...

...And finally, he did a single clip of just the bridge coil to show that Tele Twang capability. Picture playing some Surf with this selection just tweaked a bit. Quite a range, eh?!

I just scored a new Carvin neck on ebay for the prototype revival. It will be a while before I can get the funds together for the tuning machines and the electronics though. I figure the maple neck (and still ebony fingerboard) will brighten her up a bit. Boggs

Thanks, guys!

I have scored a new Carvin neck for her on ebay and am already working on reviving her during the padauk build. That neck is maple and the 6-in line variety so it should give her a bit more spank on the attack. Boggs

I gotta say, the more I play my Bolt-T, the more I like it. That girl outspanks my Strats, and I really like the slightly wider, flatter neck.
