I've got two Carvin 5-string basses, and they are both incredible instruments, and I'd like to hear from more of you Carvin bassists out there.
I have enjoyed a Bunny Brunel all-Koa fretted bass with the active electronics for about 6 years, and it has never let me down. About 5 yearts ago, they came out with a three-band onboard EQ, so I ordered one of those and slapped it in. Then I updated it with their through-body Tele-style bridge about three years ago. And then, when they came out with that giant 5-string humbucker, I just had to have one of those, so I got one and routed out my axe so it could take it. Lastly, the neck pickup got replaced with their stacked humbucker. Like a lot of my guitars, it's been an ongoing project that has just gotten better with time and experimentation.
About 2 years ago, I got interested in the fretless sound, and after a lot of research, I purchased a Carvin fretless 5-string off Ebay. It has all the same electronics and parts as my fretted bass, except for the stacked humbucker, it only has a single coil in the neck position. It has a mahogany body, and was in nearly flawless condition when I received it. Both of these fine axes are finished only in tung oil, and are very comfortable to play.
The nice thing about having two of them so similar is that I can use a simple A/B box to change guitars, and leave all the controls on my amp in same setup to get my tone. Going back and forth from fretted to fretless is easy like this.

Uh, no. But the next day it doesn't rain here, I can take 'em outside and do some Shootin' and Photoshoppin' and get 'em up here where you can drool over 'em. Promise. I get a lot better shots outside under natural light. I haven't figured out indoor shots yet without getting a lot of reflective glare.

Wouldn't ya know it? We're still waiting on some sunshine out here in Oregon? But at least we're setting some records for the rainiest April yet on record. Oh, yeah, baby!

I finally gave up on waiting and started riding my bicycle in the rain this week. Gotta start ridin' again sometime this year.

I've been riding mine as often as possible. Mine's the type that doesn't have pedals, too much exercise isn't good for you! Laughing
